About Stefan Asbury

Stefan Asbury studied at Oxford, the Royal College of Music in London, and was a Leonard Bernstein scholarship recipient at the Tanglewood Music Center where he has been teaching since 1995. He was chief conductor of the Portuguese Remix Ensemble and currently leads the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. He works regularly with major orchestras such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, among many others. Additionally, he is a regular guest with Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Musikfabrik and the London Sinfonietta. His recordings of the music of Jonathan Harvey were awarded the “Choc” by the magazine “Le Monde de la Musique”, while his recording of Grisey’s Espaces acoustiques was awarded the “German Record Critics’ Award.”
