About Richard Barrett
Richard Barrett, born 1959 in Swansea, Wales. Studied genetics at University College London, then composition with Peter Wiegold. Visiting composer at the Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music (STEIM) in Amsterdam since 1994. Lecturer in electronic composition at the Institute for Sonology of the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, 1996–2001. DAAD fellowship, Berlin, 2001–02; professor at Brunel University, London, 2006–09. Awards: Kranichsteiner Musikpreis (1986), Gaudeamus Prize (1989),British Composer Award for Chamber Music (2003). Extensively active as an improviser.Products
