About Song-Hu Liu
The baritone Song-Hu Liu was born in China and received his singing training at the music conservatory in Odessa, Ukraine. He was the recipient of numerous prizes at competitions in the Ukraine, the Czech Republic (Dvorak Competition in Karlsbad), Italy (Roverto), and Austria (Klagenfurt). In 1997, he was awarded a scholarship to the Accademia d’Arte Lirica Osimo in Italy; following his studies there he was engaged by the Festival della Valle d’Itria for productions of Giordano’s Il Re, Verdi’s Simone Boccanegra, and Massenet’s Roma. In 2006, Liu won the first prize at the renowned Concours International du Chant in Toulouse; in 2007, he was the winner of the Bavarian Radio’s “La Voce” competition in Ansbach, Germany. From 2001-2008, he was a member of the ensemble of the State Theater in Nuremberg. He has also performed at numerous festivals in Europe and Asia.
