Pianist and conductor Claudia Chan is one of the leading young interpreters of contemporary classical music. She has been hailed as an “ambassador for new music” (Ottawa Citizen) and described as “breathtaking” (Classicagenda) and “brilliant” (Piano News). Her thoughtful interpretations have been heard in concert halls in Canada, Germany, the USA, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, and South Korea, as well as on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Radio France, and all the major German radio networks. She has collaborated with many of the most important composers of our time and premiered numerous works for solo piano and chamber ensemble. From 2017–2020, Chan was Artist in Residence at the Fondation Royaumont. She recently made her debut as a conductor at the Hamburg State Opera, the Stadttheater Bern, and the Lucerne Festival Forward. She has released highly acclaimed solo and chamber music recordings on various labels. She has taught piano at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne since 2018.
