About Rebecca Martin
The American mezzo-soprano Rebecca Martin was born in Saigon. She studied piano and singing at Goshen College in Indiana. During her engagement at the Staatstheater Nürnberg she sang many of the central roles in her field, such as Angelina ("La Cenerentola"), Carmen, Poppea, Charlotte, Orlando, Niklaus, Cherubino, Dorabella, and Donna Elvira. She is also closely associated with the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich since her debut as Angelina. There she is also singing Idamante ("Idomeneo") and Rosina ("The Barber of Seville") in a new production. She has also enjoyed great success as Charlotte ("Werther") in Santander, Spain. The passions and oratorios of Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Händel, Verdi’s Requiem, and Luciano Berio’s "Folksongs" have brought the singer to, among other places, the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig and the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, as well as to the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. Lieder programs are another important part of her repertoire.Products
