About Herman Wallén
The Finnish baritone Herman Wallén studied singing at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe under Roland Hermann and in the lieder course of Hartmut Höll and Mitsuko Shirai. He has won prizes at numerous national and international singing competitions. From 2002 to 2004 Herman Wallén was engaged at the Komische Oper Berlin, and he remains under contract there as a guest performer. At the start of the 2004–5 season Herman Wallén switched from the Komische Oper Berlin to the ensemble of the Oper Leipzig, where he took on roles such as Papageno, Marcello, and Don Ferrando – this last in Herbert Blomstedt’s farewell production of "Fidelio". In addition to his opera activities he performs actively in concert with the pianist Kanako Nakagawa in Europe and Asia. He works with orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonisches Orchester Köln, and the Philharmonia Hungarica under conductors such as Michail Jurowski, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Marek Janowski.Products
