About Christine Chapman

Christine Chapman was convinced by her 7th-grade music teacher to switch from cornet to horn. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and continued her studies at Indiana University before moving to Germany in 1990. Chapman has performed with the symphony orchestras of the West German Radio (WDR) and the North German Radio (NDR), as well as with the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne, and the Royal Orchestra in Antwerp. Chapman joined Cologne’s Ensemble musikFabrik in 2004, where the opportunity to perform and collaborate with many of the most significant composers of our time has given her the chance to develop her instrumental and performance techniques while exploring sound color and musical expression. She plans in the coming years to pursue her goal of developing the voice of the horn in New Music.
