About Anna Prohaska

Anna Prohaska is one of the most exciting singers of her generation. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Norma Sharp, Brenda Mitchell and Wolfram Rieger. As a member of the ensemble of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin her roles have included Blonde, Oscar, Tebaldo, Anne Truelove, Despina, Poppea (Agrippina), Susanna, and Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Ingo Metzmacher, Sir Simon Rattle, and Philippe Jordan. She also appears with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Theater an der Wien in Vienna and the Teatro alla Scala Milan. At the Lucerne Festival, she has appeared with Claudio Abbado and the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, while her work at the Salzburg Festival has included the roles Zerlina and Despina as well as concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Cleveland Orchestra. With the Berlin Philharmonic, she has performed with Sir Simon Rattle and Claudio Abbado, and with the Vienna Philharmonic with Pierre Boulez and Sir Simon Rattle. She has sung with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio with Pierre Boulez and Mariss Jansons. She has also appeared in recital with Eric Schneider in Vienna, Berlin, Frankfurt, and London. Her recordings include Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Berg’s Lulu Suite with Claudio Abbado.
