For a long time, arrangements were rather looked down on by music specialists, but today attitudes have relaxed considerably. The classical concert repertoire is extensive and includes many wonderful pieces; many guitarists are naturally keen to get to know these works better by playing them on the guitar. Asturias by Albeniz for instance is one of the most popular works in the classical guitar repertoire, even though this piece is an arrangement: the original piano piece actually aims to imitate the sound of the guitar. This collection of 55 well-known masterpieces of classical music thus offers arrangements well suited to the guitar, while remaining as faithful as possible to the original setting.
