À propos de Peter Rundel

Peter Rundel studied violin with Igor Ozim and Ramy Shevelov in Cologne, Hanover, and New York. Rundel also studied conducting with Michael Gielen and Peter Eötvös, and composition with Jack Brimberg in New York. From 1984 to 1996, Rundel was a violinist with Ensemble Modern, and still works regularly with the group as a conductor. He has also worked with important contemporary music ensembles such as ensemble recherche, the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Musikfabrik, and Ensemble intercontemporain in Paris.

His dramatic creativity and deep understanding of complex works from many different historical periods and styles have made Peter Rundel a sought-after partner for many of Europe’s leading orchestras, such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the DSO Berlin, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony, the RSB Berlin, and the radio orchestras of the WDR, NDR, SWR, SR, ORF (Vienna), and RAI (Turin).

Peter Rundel has conducted opera performances at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera, and at festivals in Vienna, Bregenz, and Schwetzingen, working with directors such as Peter Konwitschny, Philippe Arlaud, Peter Mussbach, Calixto Bieito, Reinhild Hoffmann, Heiner Goebbels, Carlus Padrissa, and Willy Decker. Peter Rundel has been artistic director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, as well as the founding artistic director of the Kammerakademie Potsdam. In January 2005, he was appointed artistic director of the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música in Porto and has since enjoyed great success with the contemporary music ensemble, which already celebrated its 25th anniversary, at important festivals throughout Europe.

Peter Rundel has received numerous awards for his recordings of contemporary music, including the German Record Critics’ Award, the Grand Prix du Disque, the Echo Klassik Award, and a Grammy nomination.
