About Mario Venzago
Mario Venzago was born in Zurich, studied with (among others) Hans Swarowski in Vienna, and was initially a concert pianist for the Swiss Italian Radio. From 1986 to 1989, he was the General Music Director in Heidelberg and later Chief Conductor of the German Chamber Philharmonic in Bremen, the opera in Graz, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Basque National Orchestra in San Sebastian, and the Swedish National Orchestra in Göteborg. From 2002 to 2009, Venzago was Music Director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. In that period, he was also Artistic Director of the Baltimore summer Musikfest. Since 2010, he has been the Principal Conductor of the Northern Sinfonia in Newcastle, and in May of 2010, he became Chief Conductor of the Bern Symphony Orchestra.www.mariovenzago.com
