About Friedrich Jaecker
Friedrich Jaecker was born in the German town of Soest in 1950. He studied piano, composition, music theory, musicology, and music education at the Detmold University of Music. From 1975 to 1977, he studied composition with György Ligeti at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater, and musicology at the University of Hamburg. From 1977 to 2019, he taught as a professor of composition at the Cologne University of Music. He composes instrumental and vocal music. His musicological work focuses on the composer Giacinto Scelsi and 16th-century contrapuntal music.
