Women Composers: A Graded Anthology for Cello and Piano is a three-book series celebrating cello music by female composers. Volume 1 brings together 28 works by 14 composers from the 19th century to the present day, and features a range of genres including Romantic character pieces, early ragtime, jazz- and swing-inspired works, and contemporary compositions.
Ideal for lessons, concerts, or personal enjoyment, the pieces in volume 1 are playable in the neck position and structured in two levels: Elementary (Grades 1–3) and Intermediate (Grades 4–5). Carefully edited from first editions and manuscripts, with editorial guidance, fingerings, and bowings by Magdalena König and Susanne Paul, the anthology makes a meaningful contribution towards establishing works by women composers as a core part of the cello repertoire.
