Santa Fe Opera presents the American premiere of Tobias Picker and Aryeh Lev Stollman’s Lili Elbe on August 1. The new production is directed by James Robinson with scenic design by Allen Moyer, costume design by Marco Piemontese, lighting design by Marcus Doshi, projection and video design by Greg Emetaz, and choreography by Seán Curran. Roberto Kalb conducts the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra and a first rate cast led by baritone (and the production's dramaturg) Lucia Lucas as Lili Elbe and soprano Sylvia D’Eramo as Gerda Wegener.

Huang Ruo’s City of Floating Sounds combines orchestral performance with a dedicated app to create a layered listening environment. The Flanders Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robert Ames, presents the Dutch premiere on 3 June 2026 at the Holland Festival.

Sleeping Beauty with a twist: On April 22, 2026, Gregory Spears’ opera Sleepers Awake premieres at Opera Philadelphia. Based on the writings of Robert Walser, Spears creates a world where those awakened would rather keep sleeping—a captivating exploration of stillness, cyclical sounds, and the refusal of a "happily ever after."

A musical manifesto reimagined for a grand stage: Frederic Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated makes its orchestral world premiere on March 12, 2026. Andrew Norman sets the tone with the crucial opening, Theme and First Variation, leading a star-studded collective of composers at the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
