We are delighted to announce that future works by British composer and jazz-trombonist Alex Paxton will be published by Schott Music.

Born in Manchester in 1990, Paxton has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting voices on the international contemporary music scene in part due to his focused musical independence and genre-spanning, energetic style. His lavishly orchestrated music blends elements of jazz, folk, pop, electronic and minimalism with baroque-like styles and symphonic music, the result, as described by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is ‘Unbridled joy ... sophisticated, passionate music full of pulsating energy and stylistic diversity’.

Paxton was awarded the 2023 Hindemith Prize by the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and was also the recipient of the Ernst von Siemens Composition Prize that same year. His music is regularly performed by leading international orchestras and ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra, WDR Symphony Orchestra, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Ensemble Modern, Klang Forum Wien, London Sinfonietta, Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain (NEC), NDR Bigband, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Het Muziek.

We are very much looking forward to working with and supporting this extraordinary composer and to the new perspectives and world-building that his music will bring to our catalogue.
