Evan Christ studied conducting with Gert Bahner and Christoph Eschenbach. He occupied the post of First Kapellmeister and Deputy General Music Director at the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg between 2003 and 2005. From 2005 to 2008, he was engaged as First Kapellmeister at the Wuppertal Theater. Since August 2008, Evan Christ has been General Music Director at the Cottbus State Theater. In 2004, Christ won the Theater Award in Würzburg. He also received a special award in the context of the German Conducting Prize 2006 chaired by Sir Roger Norrington. Christ is the
founder of the Las Vegas Music Festival, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra in Leipzig, and the Ensemble Apart for contemporary music. He has conducted more than 40 premiere performances, as well as many of the standard repertoire works for orchestra, and has supervised more than 35 music theater productions. In 2011, Even Christ made his debut at the Salzburg Festival with a performance of the opera Macbeth by Salvatore Sciarrino, together with the orchestra Klangforum Wien.
