About Robert Sellier

Robert Sellier received his first training as a singer at the Bavarian Singakademie before studying at the Leopold Mozart Center in Augsburg with Jan Hammar. He has also participated in master classes with Gerd Uecker, Margreet Honig, Rudolf Pier nay, Peter Schreier, Rudolph Jansen, Edith Wiens, and Margaret Baker Genovesi. His earliest engagements took him to the Ludwigsburg Festival as Enrico in E.T.A. Hoff mann’s opera Liebe und Eifersucht and to the Salzburg Festival. From 2007 to 2013, Sellier was a member of the ensemble at the Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich. Among his roles there were Tamino in The Magic Flute, Almaviva in The Barber of Seville, Fenton in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor and Verdi’s Falstaff, Remen dado in Carmen, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, and Frederik in Arthur Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. Robert Sellier has been a member of the ensemble of the Halle Opera since the 2013/14 season, performing roles such as Dancairo in Carmen, Steuermann in The Flying Dutchman, Jephta in Handel’s oratorio of the same name, and Hippolyt in Henze’s Phaedra. With the Tanztheater Münster, he sang in a staged version of Hans Zender’s orchestration of Schubert’s Winterreise. Sellier also enjoys performing Early Music with historical instrumental ensembles.
