About Sandra Moon

Sandra Moon studied singing at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and made her debut at the Chicago Lyric Opera as Frasquita in Carmen alongside Plácido Domingo. In Germany, she was a member of the ensembles in the Stadttheater Aachen, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe (1992–1997), and the Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich (1997–2012). Among the highlights of her career have been guest appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York – for example as Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Zdenka in Arabella along with Renée Fleming, and as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos conducted by James Levine – as well as a concert performance in Carnegie Hall as Ännchen in Weber’s Der Freischütz and performances of Brahms’s German Requiem with Celibidache and the Munich Philharmonic. Sandra Moon has been a guest soloist in Cleveland, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Berlin, Cologne, Paris, Warsaw, Zürich, Vienna, and the International Handel Festival in Karlsruhe. In addition to her extensive opera repertoire, she is a sought-after Lied and oratorio singer. She also portrayed Maria Callas in Terrence McNally’s play, Master Class. Since 2013, Sandra Moon has been a professor of voice at Louisiana State University.
