About Paul Goodwin
Paul Goodwin first became known as one of the world’s finest baroque oboists, performing as a soloist on more than 20 CD recordings. Today he conducts the Academy of Ancient Music, founded by Christopher Hogwood, and is principal guest conductor of the English Chamber Orchestra. He has worked with artists such as Kiri Te Kanawa, Joshua Bell, and Mstislav Rostropovich. In recent years, he has turned his attention to opera, conducting in the opera houses of Karlsruhe, Mannheim, and Essen, as well as the Paris Opéra Comique and the Berlin Komische Oper. Goodwin has conducted orchestras all over the world, such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, and chamber orchestras in Sweden, Prague, and Zurich. The enormous range of his musicality is documented by numerous recordings, three of which were nominated for Grammy awards; his recording of Ricardo Primo received the Handel Prize of the city of Halle in 2007. Paul Goodwin often works with young musicians, having conducted the national youth orchestras of Spain and the Netherlands, as well as the European Community Baroque Orchestra.Products
