About Benjamin Schmid
Born in Vienna, Benjamin Schmid in 1992 won the Carl Flesch Competition in London, where he also was awarded the Mozart, Beethoven, and audience prizes. Since then he has performed with many of the world’s most prominent orchestras, such as the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, and the Vienna Philharmonic, under the direction of conductors such as Sir Roger Norrington and Seiji Ozawa. His qualities as a soloist, the extraordinary range of his repertoire, and his passion for jazz have made him one of the most sought-after violinists of his generation. Benjamin Schmid plays a Stradivarius violin from 1731 and is a professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
