About Dave Gisler

Dave Gisler (1983) From the ages of 8 to 14, Gisler took classical guitar lessons from his father, who had graduated from the conservatory in Winterthur. When he was 23, he graduated with a degree in pedagogy from the Hochschule for Music in Lucerne, where he studied for three years with Kurt Rosenwinkel. Gisler is a founding member of the band NoReduce, in which the exceptional American drummer Nasheet Waits also plays. In 2016, Gisler founded the Dave Gisler Trio with bassist Raffaele Bossard and percussionist Lionel Friedli. The trio has released three albums with Intakt Records. For their second album (“Zurich Concert”), the group was expanded to include Jaime Branch, and for the third album (“See You Out There”), David Murray joined as well.
As a sideman and with his trio, Gisler has toured throughout Europe as well as in Japan, Russia, and the USA. In addition to the trio, he can currently be heard with Christoph Irniger’s Pilgrim and Florian Egli’s Weird Beard.
Gisler has taught for Roberto Bossard at the Lucerne Hochschule for Music and for Theo Kapilidis at the Zurich Hochschule for the Arts. He is also regularly engaged as an external examinations expert.
Gisler was awarded a New York Atelier Scholarship from the Heinrich Danioth Foundation and in 2016 received the Moods-Aïda Alliman Support Prize as well as a year’s working scholarship from the Uri Art and Culture Foundation.
