Klänge des Lichts - Musik nach Innen
Product Details
Description
WERGO releases the central work from Enjott Schneider's film music for Joseph Vilsmaier's film ‘Schlafes Bruder’ (Brother of Sleep), based on the novel of the same name: Toccata ‘Schlafes Bruder’, the genial-daimonic organ piece with which the child of nature, Elias, hypnotises the listeners in an organ competition and at the same time heralds his own death.
‘Under the overall title of “Klänge des Lichts - Musik nach Innen” (Sounds of Light – Music Inwards), the CD also includes other works by Schneider - spiritual music that combines the melting or circling of Eastern-orientated meditation music with the conscious shaping and linear form of Western art music’ (Enjott Schneider). With postmodern immediacy, it breaks all kinds of boundaries in doing so: Baroque and repetitive elements come together in ‘Tenebrae‘, as do European elements and Indian ragas in ‘Nekyia’ – the musicalization of the myth about the “voyage to Hades” for oboe and organ - as well as avant-garde diction and the sound textures of Early Music in the oratorical cycle ‘Klänge des Lichts’ (Sounds of Light) based on texts by Hildegard von Bingen.
