About Johannes Julius Fischer

Johannes Fischer, percussionist and composer, was the overwhelming winner of the 56th International ARD Competition in Munich in 2007 (First Prize, Audience Prize, and three other prizes). Since then, he has enjoyed an extensive international concert career as a soloist and chamber music performer, with numerous radio and CD recordings. His repertory includes transcriptions of pieces from the Renaissance as well as numerous premieres of works by contemporary composers. As both a percussionist and composer, he has received numerous international awards and fellowships, as well as composition commissions from, among others, the Lucerne Festival, the Bavarian Radio, the Heidelberger Frühling, and the Paris Louvre. In 2009, Fischer became a professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Lübeck.
