Description
Das Werk entstand am Vorabend der russischen Invasion der Ukraine, nach dem eine Teilnahme des Komponisten an einem Musikfestival, auf Grund der sich zuspitzenden politischen Situation unmöglich wurde. In der Komposition verarbeitet Waterhouse das Fragment eines ukrainischen Volksliedes und verweist so auf den kulturellen Schatz des angegriffenen Landes. Dennoch stimmt Waterhouse am Ende des Stückes optimistische, friedliche Klänge an und setzt somit ein starkes, hoffnungsvolles musikalisches Zeichen.
