Dominique’s musical journey began from an early age studying classical guitar. Born and brought up in Trinidad and Tobago, she spent her youth playing at her local church, writing calypsos for the annual school calypso competition and composing music for drama productions. She also played cello pan in the school’s steelpan orchestra for a brief period.
Immersed in the dynamic cultural scene of 60s-70s Trinidad, Dominique engaged in theatre, dance, and film. After training in Paris, Dominique spent over 35 years in London, showcasing her talents in performance, composition, and teaching. She has worked on a number of exciting musical projects, including composing music for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4, Shakespeare plays and an opera commissioned by the Royal Opera House.
Dominique's chamber works and operas have been performed globally by prestigious ensembles. Her active involvement in the Symposia on Caribbean Art Music reflects her rich musical trajectory which is informed by her formative years in Trinidad, Martinique and the Caribbean Islands. She is represented by Jonathan Hennessey-Brown of Hennessey-Brown Music.
