Das Wunder der Heliane

Pianist Ramon van Engelenhoven has transcribed the aria from Korngold’s opera Das Wunder der Heliane for solo piano, inspired by his admiration for Korngold’s music. Drawing on Liszt’s approach in his transcription of Wagner’s Isolde’s Liebestod, van Engelenhoven begins the piece with the opening bars of the first act as an introduction, creating a compelling and pianistic interpretation of this operatic work.
