If extraordinary means ‘out of the ordinary’, then Rinde Eckert is an extraordinary musician par excellence. After experiencing the spoken-word artist at the Festival of Voices in Lörrach, one critic coined the phrase, “seat-belts only entertainment”. Rinde Eckert’s stage presence differs from the usual cultural business in the same way as a roller coaster is different from leisurely boat ride. It is a roller coaster ride through a panopticon of human peculiarities, wrapped up in David Lynch-style stories – a world inhabited by psychopaths, clowns and poets, always tinged with a little madness, a little world-weariness and sounds from every corner of existence.
