Antigone Papoulkas, mezzo-soprano, was born in Munich and studied at theHochschule for Music in Cologne with Hans Sotin and Klesie Kelly. She also studied
privately with Soto Papulkas and has taken master classes with Daphne
Evangelatos, Josef Metternich, and Teresa Berganza, among others. She twice
won the first prize in the German national singing competition in Berlin, and
received the Dr. Wilhelm Oberdörffer Prize as well as the Richard Wagner and
Walter Kaminsky scholarships. Following two years of international opera studio
work, Papoulkas was for four years a member of the ensemble at the Hamburg
State Opera. After two years at the Vienna State Opera, from 2005 to 2010 she
was engaged at the Semper Opera in Dresden. She has since performed in numerous
productions in cities such as Vienna, Athens, Halle, Schwerin, and Dresden.
