Alessandro Cappone was born in Luxemburg, the son of Italian parents. He began playing the violin at the age of eleven, and at the age of 22, before the end of his studies with Thomas Brandis at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin, he joined the first violin section of the Berlin Philharmonic. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has concertized in many European countries, the USA, Russia, Japan, China and Australia, above all as leader of the Scharoun Ensemble (1983–2002). Since 2000, Alessandro Cappone has been the concertmaster of the Philharmonic String Soloists in Berlin and founder of the Philharmonic Capriccio Ensemble Berlin, in which he appears in many different instrumental combinations with colleagues from the Berlin Philharmonic. Allesandro Cappone also has appeared playing chamber music with many renowned pianists such as Yefim Bronfman, Ian Brown, Lang Lang, and Alexander Lonquich.
