About Vladimir Guicheff Bogacz

Vladimir Guicheff Bogacz was born in 1986 in Montevideo/Uruguay. He is a composer, improviser and guitarist. Between 2006 and 2012, he studied at the Escuela Universitaria de Música in Montevideo, earning degrees in music performance (guitar) and composition, the latter with Osvaldo Budón and Luis Jure. From 2013 to 2019, he lived in Cologne, where he worked as a composer while completing his postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz – with Johannes Schöllhorn and Brigitta Muntendorf. He received further composition lessons from Brian Ferneyhough, Younghi Pagh-Paan, Pierluigi Billone, Sarah Nemtsov, Mathias Spahlinger, Enno Poppe and Simon Steen-Andersen, among others.
His works have been performed worldwide at various international festivals. Besides specialising in instrumental music, Guicheff Bogacz has also written music for dance, performative actions and sound installations. As an improviser, he has been a member of numerous permanent ensembles and has attended varied seminars, including with George E. Lewis and Wade Matthews. As a guitarist, he not only focuses on experimental contemporary repertoire but is also a member of ensembles dedicated to the musical folklore of the Río de la Plata. He is also a founding member of the Kollektiv3:6Koeln, launched in 2017, which develops collaborative works that blur the line between concert and stage music.
Vladimir Guicheff Bogacz holds the position of Professor of composition and instrumentation at the Faculty of Arts in Montevideo.
