About Roland Neffe
The Austrian marimbaphonist Roland Neffe was born in Graz. He studied classical percussion and jazz vibraphone at the Musikhochschule Graz, the Konservatorium Nürnberg, the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. Neffe works, both as a practicing musician and as a composer, with a wide variety of ensembles and bands, from jazz to New Music. In his own projects Roland Neffe dedicates himself to the border zones between popular and serious music, in combination with improvisation.He has recorded numerous CDs and appeared at many festivals, including the Berliner Festspiele, the percussion festivals in Paris and Vienna, Jazz Ost West, Steirischer Herbst, the Seoul Drum Festival, Ars Electronica, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, and Ultraschall, which testifies to the range of his commitment. Roland Neffe has lived in Berlin since 1995.
