About Quatuor Diotima
The string quartet, Diotima, founded by graduates of the music schools in Paris and Lyon, won the first prize of the Paris FNAPEC competition in 1999 and the contemporary music prize of the London String Quartet Competition in 2000. Quatuor Diotima has performed in concert venues such as Cité de la Musique and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Queen’s Hall Edinburgh, Casa da Musica Porto, Auditori de Barcelona, the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Konserthuset Stockholm, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, as well as the festivals in Aldeburgh, Cheltenham, Athens, Bregenz, and Aix-en-Provence. The quartet has also toured in Japan, Central and South America, and the USA. The group’s repertoire ranges from Haydn to contemporary composers, with a special emphasis on commissioning new works. Quatuor Diotima was awarded the Young Artists’ Prize of the “Diapason d’or de l’année” in Paris for its recordings of works by Lachenmann and Nono. The group’s discography also includes works by Lucien Durosoir and Alberto Posadas as well as Schoenberg’s Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra (after Georg Friedrich Handel).
