Mauro Lanza

Mauro Lanza, born 1975 in Venice; studied piano, composition and musicology there. Composition teachers included Brian Ferneyhough, Salvatore Sciarrino, Gérard Grisey and Alessandro Solbiati. Studied composition and computer music at IRCAM, 1998–99; subsequently lecturer and composer-in-research there. Visiting lecturer and composer-in-residence at McGill University, Montreal, 2004–05. Visiting professor at the state conservatory in Cuneo, Italy since 2005. Grants from Le Fresnoy (2005–06), the Civitella Ranieri Foundation (2006), the Académie de France à Rome (2007–08) and Schloss Solitude (2009).
