About John Blow
John Blow, englischer Komponist, wurde 1668 Organist der Westminster Abbey, gab diese Stellung 1680 zugunsten seines Schülers Henry Purcell auf, nahm sie aber nach dessen Tode (1695) wieder ein. 1699 wurde er Komponist der Chapel Royal. Blow entwickelte in Anlehnung an die altenglischen Tradtition einen harmonisch reichen Kompositionsstil. Er schreib Anthems, Motetten, Services, oden, ein Maskenspiel "Venus und Adonis" (1680-1685), Lieder, Klavierstücke und 2 Sonaten für 2 Va, Gambe und B.Products
