About Csaba Kelemen

Csaba Kelemen was born Szolnok, Hungary, in 1968. He initially studied trumpet at the music school in Debrecen and then at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest with Zoltán Szücs, receiving his concert diploma in 1992. Already as a student, he won first prizes, was a regular substitute player at the Budapest State Opera, and was a much sought-after soloist, in which capacity he toured to Vienna and Italy playing the Hummel trumpet concerto. His other important teachers have been Jerome Callet, Malte Burba, and Tobias Füller.
In 1990 and 1991, Kelemen toured with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra as solo trumpet under the direction of Claudio Abbado. Kelemen has been a member of the Dresden Philharmonic since 1991. From 1993 to 1997, he was a member of the Dresden Philharmonic Brass Quintet and has been solo trumpet with the Musica Viva Ensemble in Dresden since 1994. He has participated as a substitute with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Dresden, and the MDR Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig.
