Beschreibung
Miniatures von Huw Watkins wurde für den Bratschisten Simon Rowland-Jones geschrieben und 2009 am North Norfolk Music Festival uraufgeführt. Das Werk hat acht kurze Sätze: "Im ersten spielt die Bratsche kurze, mal geometrische, mal lyrische Fragmente über den einfachen, langsamen Harmonien des Klaviers. Der vierte und der siebte Satz sind Variationen des ersten. Die dazwischen liegenden Miniaturen sind sehr kontrastreich: Nummer Zwei ist schnell und temperamentvoll, Nummer Drei dagegen langsam und nachdenklich. In der fünften Miniatur spielt die Bratsche schnelle Sechzehntel über sich unnachgiebig wiederholenden Klavierklängen, der letzte Satz ist dafür sehr langsam und gelassen." (Huw Watkins)
