Misha Cvijović, born in Belgrade, lives and works in Berlin as a composer, musical director, pianist, synthesizer performer, and sound artist. Her works cover a wide range of contemporary genres – from instrumental solos to orchestral and chamber music, electroacoustic and electronic music, opera, music theatre, theatre, and film. The versatility of her musical language is the result of her constant experimentation with new sonic and artistic perspectives.
She studied piano (Vladimir Ogarkov) at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and composition (Vlastimir Trajković) at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, as well as at the renowned HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin (Eun-Hwa Cho). Her works have been performed at numerous international festivals and concerts, including: Ultraschall Berlin, MaerzMusik, Heroines of Sound Berlin, Musica Electronica Nova Wroclaw, Frequency Kiel, KLANG Copenhagen, SONIC MATTER Zurich, Unerhörte Musik, Klangwerkstatt für Neue Musik Berlin, IMPULSE Graz, MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN, Cannes Film Festival, and Rotterdam Film Festival. International performers of her music include Ensemble Musikfabrik, Ensemble LUX:NM, Zafraan Ensemble, Ensemble RADAR, zone expérimentale Basel, Ensemble Studio 6, and the RTS Symphony Orchestra.
In 2021, Misha Cvijović held scholarships of the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in Berlin and of the Musikfonds Berlin with the Trio Splitsignals Berlin. Alles Liebe! – a queer rural operetta by Misha Cvijović (composition) and Philipp Amelungsen (libretto) with the production team – was awarded the Reinhold-BiographyOtto-Mayer Prize in 2025. The premiere took place at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and was the first opera there to be premiered by a woman.
In addition to her compositional work, she has a teaching position in the Music Theatre Department at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) since 2024.
