Carsten Gerlitz lives and studied music in his native city of Berlin. He works as a choir director, musician and as an arranger and author for various publishers. His piano and choral arrangements have appeared in over 250 publications.
He has released several CDs with his Happy Disharmonists, supposedly the oldest pop choir in Germany, which he has led since it was founded in 1985. His "Pop Ballads" received the German Music Editing Prize. He has been a musical director for television several times and has worked as a musical director at many theatres in Germany and Switzerland. He also directed the senior citizens' choir for the SAT.1 project "Rock statt Rente".

Carsten has arranged for Max Raabe, Reinhard Mey, Ute Lemper, Ernie & Bert, Ralph Siegel, various radio orchestras, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and has arranged and conducted the Playa)(pops Symphony at the Burning Man Festival on several occasions. He also films music videos with various groups and ensembles.
He is also a regular lecturer in pop choir conducting, travelling and coaching choirs. He has written two books on the subject of pop choirs: JUST SING IT! and POPCHOR - almost 1001 tips on choral conducting. He wrote and arranged the music for the musical "Heiße Zeiten". He was also the lyricist for the sequels "Höchste Zeit" and "Himmlische Zeiten". He set several Conni adventures to music with his children.
