Description
This much-loved miniature is presented in organ transcripton for the first time. In its original form it serves as a piano interlude in the composer's The Yellow Cake Revue, comment in words and music on the threat of uranium mining in Orkney. The work's attention to environmental concerns and and the threat to the natural world are as relevant today as at the time of composition in 1980. The title Yesnaby Ground punningly refers to both a locality on Orkney and the musical form of the work, in which the composer calls to mind the style of English keyboard masters of the Tudor period. Yesnaby Ground can be performed with the companion interlude Farewell to Stromness.
