SPIRALOT HALOM

It is extremely rare for me to provide programmatic information on an abstract composition, but a few months before the composition of this work, I had a dream about a gigantic cloud becoming progressively more dense. I was in the car with someone else and we could not get through the wall of cloud. We would have to circumnavigate it, but there was no edge that we could have driven around. This is an image which takes your breath away when experienced in a dream – but then again can also appear in a completely different light. There is nothing possessing greater variations than dreams. When I had almost finished the composition, the word ‘spiral’ came to mind as Spiralot Halom is in a constant state of rotation. Aribert Reimann
