Sappho-Lieder
for soprano and piano
A previously unpublished, multi-faceted song cycle based on Sappho: poetically dense, tonally nuanced and in Killmayr's typical reduced aesthetic. An interesting and effective addition to the contemporary song repertoire.
Product Details
Description
Wilhelm Killmayer's Sappho-Lieder bring together a previously unpublished, expressive cycle for soprano and piano based on texts by the ancient poet Sappho. The collection, which lasts around 30 minutes, combines poetic condensation with differentiated tonal design and is suitable for demanding concert programs. First performed in Stuttgart in 2008, the work offers a wide range of characters from verse song to night and dream song.
