1866 Posaunist und Bassist am Stadtorchester Naumburg an der Saale. 1827 erster Posaunist am Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig. 1882 Lehrer am königlichen Konservatorium für Musik, dort Gründung der ersten Posaunenklasse an einer deutschen Musikhochschule.
