About Philipp Heinrich Erlebach
Philipp Heinrich Erlebach (1657-1714) stammt aus dem ostfriesischen Esens. 35 Jahre lang war er in Rudolstadt am Hof des Grafen Albert Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt angestellt. Rudolstadt hatte sich damals zu einem wichtigen Zentrum musikalischen Lebens entwickelt, und auch Erlebach genoss einen herausragenden Ruf. Eine 1704 gedruckte Liedsammlung unterstreicht Erlebachs Bedeutung für das deutsche Lied. Sein umfangreiches Schaffen, dasInstrumental- wie Vokalmusik, weltliche wie geistliche Werke umfasste, wurde 1735 bei einem Schlossbrand fast vollständig vernichtet.
