About Phil Niblock
Phill Niblock (*1933 in Anderson IN) is a trained photographer and filmmaker and taught filmmaking at Staten Island College NY from 1971 to 1998. As a self-taught musician with a longtime interest in jazz, he began to compose in 1968; that same year he was one of the founders of the Experimental Intermedia Foundation (EIF), which he has directed since 1985. Next to The Kitchen, EIF has become perhaps the leading supporter of New Music events in New York; since 1993 EIF has had a branch in Ghent, Belgium. Phill Niblock still presents his films and videos, nowadays with computergenerated music augmented by live musicians, in intermedia concerts around the world.
