About Bernd Schultheis

* 1964 in Bochum, Germany, Bernd Schultheis lives as a freelance composer in Berlin. He is dedicated to composing instrumental, vocal, and electroacoustic music for the concert hall, the stage, radio, and cinema. In recent years he has also conceived multichannel audio-visual installations. His music has been played at concerts and festivals throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia. He received commissions from broadcasting stations (Deutschlandradio Kultur, NDR, ZDF/arte/3sat) and worked with renowned orchestras as the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, IEMA ensemble, Ensemble Kontraste Nürnberg, Oh Ton-Ensemble, EMex Ensemble, The Pocket Symphony (Russia) and Ensemble Mosaik. In close collaboration with instrumentalists, Schultheis has written solo works for Pedro Bittencourt (saxophone), Michael Pattmann (percussion), Nicholas Isherwood (voice) and Susanne Stock (accordion). He has been a guest artist at the Institute for Music and Acoustics at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
