Description
My Oboe Concerto was composed in 2009 and consists of the three sections Elegy, Duets und Finale con Epilogue which are played without a break. It was my intention to give the greatest possible emphasis to all tonal and technical facets of this wonderful instrument in the solo part.
Two further important “persons” contained in the score also deserve a special mention: the cor anglais which continuously imitates and answers the solo part (almost like a “duet” which is extended throughout the entire work) and also the orchestra itself. Its function is not merely limited to the accompaniment of the soloist; the individual musicians are provided with the opportunity of displaying their virtuoso musicianship both within the ensemble and as soloists.
