Description

Mount E'mei for violin solo, percussion solo and orchestra is a double concerto commissioned by the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra and Beijing Symphony Orchestra, composed specifically for the violinist Lu Wei and the percussionist Hu Shengnan. The piece is based on folk music collected by the composer in the E'mei area of Sichuan Province and inspired by the breathtaking scenery, profound historical culture and long–standing influence of Buddhist music within the region. The music evokes landscape, humanistic history and religious culture, reveals the calm inner realm of the composer’s heart and reflects a significant change which has affected the composer.
