Description

Lamura Cuo (originally composed for violin and ensemble) was commissioned in 2014 by Soundstreams, a Toronto-based music presenter for contemporary music in Canada.

This is one in a series of my works about the Nine Sacred Lakes in Tibet. In this composition, a melodious and mystic strain played on the violin is used to depict the sacredness felt in my heart of Lake Lamura Cuo, one of the famous Nine Sacred Lakes in Tibet on the highest plateau in the world. The chilly, yet clear air and the quiet water of the lake in the distance evoke a slight sadness in my heart. Xiaogang Ye
