Product Details

Description

Toshi Ichiyanagi‘s work Distance is an interesting example of late 1970s concept art and happenings. Ichiyanagi was a pupil of John Cage who dedicated his work 0’00 to the younger composer and the Japanese artist Yoko Ono who were a married couple between 1956 and 1962.
Distance is a work without a plot in which a Nō dancer and the instrumentalists onstage engage with their instruments in a dialogue at a distance – they have to operate their instruments with the help of mechanical aids from a specifically defined distance of three metres.
