Description
Marcin Blazewicz, born in Warsaw in 1953, is one of the most successful Polish composers of contemporary music. He studied composition with Francois-Bernard Mache, Iannis Xenakis and Olivier Messiaen at the Chopin Music Conservatoire in Warsaw where he has been teaching instrumentation since 1985 and composition since 2004. To this day, he has written more than 200 works for the theatre, radio and film.
Blazewicz composed 'Concerto rustico' specifically for 'The 5th World Marimba Competition 2008' in Stuttgart. The virtuoso concertante piece is written in a moderately modern style (tonal) and influenced by jazz elements - a valuable addition to every modern concert programme.
